Using edge information in time–frequency representations for chirp parameter estimation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Time–frequency representations of a signal can provide a useful means for obtaining parameter estimates for signals consisting of various chirps. We demonstrate the utility of including edge information extracted from these time–frequency representations when using a Hough transformation to perform this task. In particular, we show that using the edge information: (1) reduces the variance of the chirp parameter estimates in the case where the chirp signal has a single component; and (2) reduces the amount of spurious cross talk results when the signal has multiple chirp components. We further demonstrate a variation of our technique that detects the onset and duration of individual chirp components. We propose this technique as a fast preprocessing step for other algorithms such as maximum likelihood estimation which can provide very accurate parameter estimates. 2004 Elsevier Inc. متن کاملTime-Domain Geoacoustic Inversion of High-Frequency Chirp Signal From a Simple Towed System
An inversion method using a towed system consisting of a source and two receivers is presented. High-frequency chirp signals that have been emitted from the source are received after multiple penetrations and reflections from the shallow water sub-bottom structure and are processed for geoacoustical parameter estimation. The data are processed such that a good resolution and robustness is achie...

The time-frequency (TF) filter design of non-stationary signals such as chirp signals are studied in the fractional domain. The designed TF/ Adaptive linear time variant (ALTV) filter is implemented as a nonoverlapping Fractional Fourier transform (FRFT). Using FRFT the adaptive filter is converted into mathematical form to be included in different methods for detecting the presence of a multi ...

An iterative algorithm similar to our MMSE estimation procedure proposed in another paper by the authors is applied to parameter estimation of multiple superimposed chirp signals in white Gaussian noise. The necessary parameter initializations of the procedure are accomplished by peak detections in the Choi–Williams time–frequency distribution of the data followed by application of the least-sq...
متن کاملTarget Tracking with Unknown Maneuvers Using Adaptive Parameter Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks
Abstract- Tracking a target which is sensed by a collection of randomly deployed, limited-capacity, and short-ranged sensors is a tricky problem and, yet applicable to the empirical world. In this paper, this challenge has been addressed a by introducing a nested algorithm to track a maneuvering target entering the sensor field. In the proposed nested algorithm, different modules are to fulfill...
